First aid training requirement for door supervisors and security guards

New SIA first aid requirements for door supervisors

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has recently changed its rules regarding first aid training for door supervisors and other security professionals.

The SIA now insists that professionals working in the security industry must have been trained in many aspects of practical first aid such as CPR, the application of a tourniquet, treating burns and eye injuries, catastrophic bleeding and packing of wounds.

The SIA also stipulates that all door supervisors and other professionals must be assessed face to face by an organisation which is regulated by Ofqual, SQA, Qualifications Wales or CCEA, a voluntary aid society, or a training provider delivering a programme that meets HSE requirements for delivery of EFAW or FAW.
